20 Army men killed in India-China clash in Galwan Valley.

Twenty Indian Army soldiers including a commanding officer are killed in India-China violent clash in Galwan Valley. The fierce clash with the Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh is the bloodiest clash between India and China in 40 years. This clash has further escalated the already volatile border standoff between both the nations.

According to Indian Army on Tuesday afternoon, three army men were killed, two soldiers and an officer. But in a late night development the army revised the fatalities count to 20. The Army said other 17 soldiers were critically injured in the line of duty. They were exposed to sub-zero temperatures at the military clash location and succumbed to their injuries later at night.

This India-China violent clash is the biggest confrontation between both the nations after five decades. The first clash took place in 1967 in Nathu La during which 80 Indian soldiers lost their lives and Chinese army lost over 300 soldiers. China went back on it’s words.

On June 6 a Major-level talk was held between India and China in the Galwan Valley. It was agreed by both India and China that Chinese troops would further disengage and move back to their territory in Galway Valley. But the Chinese troops didn’t move back and broke the agreement.

As the PLA troops didn’t disengage, Colonel Santosh Babu of 16 Bihar Regiment leading an unarmed patrol team went to discuss with the Chinese side. But the Chinese troops refused to move back and deliberately escalated the situation.

Stones, Barbed Wires used to attack Indian soldiers.

Instead of calmly discussing the matter, the Chinese troops started attacking the unarmed patrol team of Indian army. The Chinese troops attacked the Indian soldiers with boulders, stones wrapped with barbed wire and wooden logs with nails on them.

According to Indian Army sources, most of the injuries sustained by the Indian soldiers are because of stone pelting and rods used by the Chinese troops. Indian Army also retaliated after the Chinese troops started to attack.

Due to the heavy use of stones and barbed wire several soldiers sustained head injuries. The clash went on for at least three hours. The clash took place near a ridge where many soldiers were pushed down from the cliff. The soldiers fell into the narrow, fast moving Galwan river. Many bodies of the soldiers was recovered from the river and several others succumbed to their injuries by morning.
