The Central gov rejects West Bengal’s tableau proposal for Republic Day.
The Central rejects west Bengal’s tableau proposal for the upcoming Republic Day Parade on January 26. The tableau proposal of West Bengal was rejected after the expert committee made a few objections. So Union ministry of Defence decided rejects west Bengal’s tableau.
“The tableau proposal of Govt. of West Bengal was examined by the Expert Committee in two rounds of meetings. And was not taken forward for further consideration by the Expert Committee after deliberations in the second meeting”: MoD officials.
Bengal was planning to showcase its social welfare project, Kanyashree, on direct cash-transfer for girls that have received international recognition.
This is the second time since 2015 that Bengal’s proposal to showcase Kanyashree at the Republic Day parade has to suffer rejection. In 2018 as well, the state’s desire to showcase ‘Ekata-i Sampriti’ went through rejection.
Twenty-two proposals, 16 from states and UTs and six from central ministries, out of a total of 56 are short-listed for this year’s parade.
The Trinamool Congress on Thursday hit out at the center over the rejection of West Bengal’s tableau proposal. “It is an insult to the people of West Bengal for protesting CAA,” says TMC.
The state BJP was also quick to hit back. They accuse TMC of not following rules and regulations of the tableau proposal properly.
