Infant death 104 In Kota at JK Lon hospital in Kota seems to have no end. At least four more infants have died in the first two days of January at the JK Lon hospital in Kota, taking the death toll to 104.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday spoke with Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Friday that the Kota infants’ death toll has been the lowest as compared to the last five-six years. The Congress-led government has been facing backlash over the infants’ deaths over the alleged unhygienic conditions at the district hospital.
“My government is sensitive to the death of infants at JK Lon Hospital, Kota. There should not be politics over this. Infant mortality in this hospital of Kota is steadily decreasing. We will try to reduce it further. It is our top priority to keep mothers and children healthy,” tweets Ashok Gehlot rejecting allegations of being insensitive government.
His remarks have come amid the criticisms by BJP and BSP supremo Mayawati, of the state being insensitive towards infants death.
BSP supremo Mayawati on Friday demands to sack Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over infant death in Kota. She has also questioned the silence of Priyanka Gandhi over these deaths.
“The death of over 100 kids in the Congress-ruled Rajasthan is a matter of pain and sadness. What` is highly condemnable is that Gehlot remains insensitive and highly irresponsible towards the issue,” tweets Mayawati.
In her second tweet, the BSP supremo says, “It would have been better if Priyanka Gandhi met those poor mothers who lost kids in the manner she met UP (protest) victims.”
Meanwhile, the Central government has decided to send a high-level team comprising experts from AIIMS, Jodhpur to Kota.
