Nirbhaya Case: Delhi court issues fresh warrants, now convicts to hang on Feb 1.
Delhi court on Friday issues fresh death warrants against the Nirbhaya convicts. The court sets a new date for their hanging i.e., on February 1 , 2020 at 6 am.
The Tihar jail authorities sought issuance of fresh death warrants against the four convicts. Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora was hearing a plea by Mukesh Singh, one of the convicts. He has been seeking postponement of the date of his execution scheduled for January 22.
Public Prosecutor Irfan Ahmed told the court that Mukesh’s mercy plea is rejected by President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday.
The rape victim’s mother who has been following up on the case for the last seven years broke down in an interview. “I will fight and I will keep struggling. I will wait,” says Nirbhaya’s mother, upset on change of the date of execution.

Nirbhaya’s mother accuses BJP and AAP for playing politics. “It has been 7 years and we didn’t get justice. The government can’t see our pain. Both parties are playing politics on the girl’s death. I think the hanging is deliberately been postponed.”
Standing Counsel for Tihar Jail authorities advocate Rahul Mehra has said that the execution of convicts will not take place on January 22.
