Gandhi’s struggle for freedom a big ‘drama’ : Anantkumar Hegde
BJP MP and former Union Minister, Anantkumar Hegde starts a fresh controversy by addressing Mahatma Gandhi’s freedom struggle a big ‘drama’. He says that his blood boils when people like Gandhi become a ‘Mahatma’.
The Lok Sabha MP during a public event says that the entire freedom movement is ‘staged’ with the consent and support of Britishers.
“None of these so-called leaders were beaten up by the cops even once. Their independence movement is one big drama. It was staged by these leaders with the approval of the British. It was not a genuine fight. The fight was an adjustment freedom struggle,” says Anantkumar Hegde in his public addressal.
He even says that ‘satyagraha’, Mahatma Gandhi’s one of the important movements is also a ‘drama’. According to him all those hunger strikes is not the reason behind Britishers leaving our country.
“People supporting Congress keep saying that India got independence because of the fast unto death and satyagraha. This is not true. The British did not leave the country because of satyagraha,” he says in his speech.
He further adds that our Independence is the outcome of frustration from Britishers. Hegde says that whenever he reads our history his blood boils. And he also says how can someone like Gandhi become a Mahatma in our country.
Retaliating at BJP for calling Mahatma Gandhi’s freedom struggle a drama, Congress suggests that BJP should rename its party as ‘Nathuram Godse Party’. Congress also says that Mahatma Gandhi needs no certification from “spies and chamchas of Britishers.”
