Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda declared terrorist free.

In a joint operation of police and Indian Army, three terrorists are killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag. The three terrorists killed include two LeT commanders and one top Hizbul commander, Masood Alias Rahi. Post the joint operation the DGP of J&K has declared the district of Doda terrorists free.

“In today’s operation at Khull Chohar Anantnag by Anantnag Police along with Local RR unit two LET terrorists including one district commander and one HM commander Masood are neutralised. Doda district in Jammu Zone becomes totally militancy free once again. As Masood was the last surviving terrorist of Doda District,” says Dilbagh Singh, J&K DGP.

The top Hizbul commander, Masood took up arms in 2018. Months after he was accused of raping a minor in Doda district. After that he went into hiding and then became a part of Hizbul Mujahideen shifting his area of operation to Kashmir.

Joint Operation.

According to the officials, the army and the police launched a cordon and search operation after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists in Anantnag. The operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists started firing on the security forces. The security forces then retaliated and encountered three terrorists.

After the encounter the security forces recovered one AK 47 and two pistols from the terrorists. “Three terrorists eliminated in the ensuing gunfight. One AK and two Pistols recovered. Joint Operation in progress,” said the Army.

According to Vijay Kumar, IG Kashmir, the highest number of terrorists are killed in the month of June. “So far, this is the highest killings of terrorists (46) in a single month.” This year a lot of terrorists have been eliminated in Kashmir during the encounters led by the security forces. A total of 116 terrorists are killed this year.
