Kamal Rani Varun, UP Cabinet Minister succumbs to Covid19. She dies at the age of 62 after testing positive for Covid19 on July 18. Kamal Rani was undergoing treatment at PGI hospital in Lucknow for the coronavirus. She was the Minister of Technical Education in Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet.

Kamal Rani Varun was an efficient leader, who fought for women empowerment. She won the election from Kanpur’s Ghatampur in 2017. UP CM, Yogi Adityanath mourns the death of his fellow cabinet minister and expresses his grief on Twitter. Yogi Adityanath hailed Kamal Rani as an efficient leader.

“I express my deepest condolences to the family of Cabinet Minister Kamala Rani Varun. She was #COVID19 positive & was receiving treatment at SGPGI Hospital. Kamal Rani was a popular public leader & a social worker. She worked efficiently while being the part of the Cabinet,” tweets Yogi Adityanath.

“The news of the untimely death of my colleague in the UP government, cabinet minister Kamal Rani Varun is saddening. The state today lost a dedicated leader. My condolences are to her family. May the almighty let her rest at their feet. Om Shanti,” adds CM Yogi.

CM cancels Ayodhya Visit.

Uttar Pradesh CM, Yogi Adityanath was scheduled to visit Ayodhya today to monitor the preparations for Ram Mandir ‘bhoomi poojan’. Due to the sudden demise of his cabinet minister Kamal Rani Varun, Yogi Adityanath cancelled his visit to Ayodhya.

“Kamal Rani Varun respected public aspirations as a minister. As a minister, she made commendable contributions in efficiently discharging departmental functions. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the demise of the minister,” tweets the state government.

Kamal Rani Varun is the first cabinet minister to succumb to Covid19. After testing positive for Covid19 on July 18 she was admitted to the PGI hospital in Lucknow. Her condition deteriorated after she developed an infection in her lungs. “She was on a life support system. Despite the best efforts of doctors, she passed away today,” says an official.

After the news of her demise, the state government announced a state mourning. The state government has also lower down the flags in the district and will give her a cremation with police honour. Her body will be taken from Kanpur to Lucknow for cremation.
