Political parties target PM Modi over 20 lakh crore economic package.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces a stimulus economic package of 20 lakh crore to  revive the economy in his yesterday’s addressal. Political parties are slamming PM Modi’s economic package and are highlighting the lack of details about the package.

TMC, Congress, Samajwadi Party and other political parties are lashing out at PM Modi. Many accused the prime minister of making false and blank promises to the citizens. Some of them are mocking the PM by saying that the announcement of the economic package 20 lakh crore is just for ‘headlines’.

Yesterday during his addressal to the nation PM Modi hailed India’s self-reliant ability. To fight the Covid19 pandemic, PM Modi has called for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor takes a jibe at PM Modi stating ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ as just a new version of ‘Make In India’.

Shashi Tharoor tweets on his Twitter handle a hindi couplet to share his opinion on the economic package. It roughly translates to, “He is selling the same old wine but in a new bottle. He is selling just a pile of old dreams.”

Leaders slamming PM Modi.

Randeep Surjewala, Head of Communication Department of Congress attacks PM Modi saying that his addressal is nothing but just a ‘HEADLINE’ for the country and the media.

“When the ‘blank page’ is filled with ‘Heartfelt Help of People’, the nation and Congress party will respond. The mammoth heart-breaking human tragedy of migrant workers walking back home needs compassion, care & safe return. India is deeply disappointed by your utter lack of empathy, sensitivity & failure to address the woes of millions of migrant workers,” tweets Surjewala.

Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party Chief says that this is yet another false promise from PM Modi. He even says that the prime minister will not fulfill any of these promises.

“Earlier, you promised Rs 15 lakh and now Rs 20 lakh crore. You have made false promises 133 times with 133 crore Indians. How can someone trust you this time? People now are not asking how many zeroes there are but how many false promises have made,” tweets Akhilesh Yadav.

Chidambaram’s close examination.

P Chidambaram, former finance minister also takes a jibe at PM Modi saying that he has only given a headline and blank page. However, Chidambaram hopes that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will fill the blank page.

“Yesterday, the PM gave us a headline and a blank page. Naturally, my reaction is blank! Today, we look forward to the FM filling the blank page. We will carefully count every ADDITIONAL rupee that the government will actually infuse into the economy,” tweets Chidambaram.

Following this P Chidambaram also tweets that his parth will closely examine which sector will get what from the economic package.

“We will also carefully examine who gets what? And the first thing we will look for is what the poor and hungry migrant workers can expect after walking hundreds of kilometres to their home states.”

Leaders with neutral response.

There are a few leaders who have a neutral response to the announcement of the economic package by PM Modi. These leaders are waiting for the details of the economic package to unfold.

Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan CM is one such leader who tweets his neutral response to the economic package. “The financial package announced by PM Modi ji was much awaited. Better late than never. We welcome this. Now when details emerge, we will know exactly how much different sectors will get.”

TMC MP, Derek O’Brien also has a neutral response to the relief package. He tweets, “We saw the box today. We saw the wrapping paper today. But what is in the product, we don’t know. For that, we have to open the package tomorrow or the day after. He (Modi) said 20 lakh crores, 10 percent of GDP, but (there is a) little asterisk there saying some conditions apply.”

Nawab Malik, spokesperson of NCP says he wishes that this package “would not go the Bihar way”. “Let’s see how it unfolds. We will wait for the details. But it should not go the way Bihar’s package went.”

Well, to know the details of the economic package all these leaders will have to wait until today evening. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be addressing a press conference today at 4 pm to share the details of the economic package of 20 lakh crore.
